Remarks:
Seventeen printed part books for Lully’s ‘6 Motetts’ are missing from SLUB.
Two 19th century score copies (c.1825) are held. They are:
Mus. 1827-D-1: Six motets by Lully (publ. Paris, 1684), comprising: Psalm 50, Miserere mei Deus; Canticum Zachariae; Ambrosian Hymn (Te Deum laudamus); Psalm 129, De profundis; Dies irae; Canticum pro Baptismo Delphini ‘Plaude laetare Gallia’. The timpani part of the Te Deum is notated at the conclusion, an indication that this score was copied from the set of part books.
Mus. 1827-D-2: four of the six motets by Lully (publ. Paris, 1684) in the hand of Dresden court composer Franz A. Schubert (1768–1827), comprising: the Ambrosian Hymn (Te Deum laudamus); De profundis; Dies irae; Plaude laetare. Schubert’s remark on the inner side of the front cover: ‘Ist unter August den 2ter König von Pohlen | und Sachsen nach Dresden | von König Ludewig den 14ten von Frankreich an an König August den 2ter geschickt worden. Franz Schubert’. (c1825. Information from Dr O. Landmann’s remarks in the SLB card catalogue).
